On 27 April 2026, GECKO Rope Access completed the installation of a large-scale flag at Mufeed Al Yaqoub Tower as part of a high level access operation that required technical planning, controlled execution, and strict safety procedures.
The project involved installing a 110-metre by 25-metre flag weighing more than 600kg at the top of the tower. Due to the scale of the structure and the height of installation, the operation required a specialized rope access approach to safely position and secure the flag without affecting ongoing building operations.
The installation was carried out by GECKO’s 20-member IRATA-certified rope access team using advanced rigging and access techniques supported by safety procedures aligned with ISO 9001 standards. Before execution began, the team conducted detailed planning for load handling, movement control, weather conditions, access points, and installation sequencing to ensure the operation could be completed safely and efficiently.
Projects at this scale leave little room for error. Wind resistance, structural positioning, equipment coordination, and movement at height all play a critical role during installation. Any miscalculation can impact safety, timelines, or structural stability, which is why certified rope access systems and experienced technical teams are essential for this type of work.
GECKO was selected for the project due to its experience in high-rise rope access operations and its ability to manage technically demanding installations in complex environments. The team worded through each phase of the operation with a focus on controlled execution, safety compliance, and accurate positioning of the structure from start to finish.
The successful completion of the installation highlights the growing role of rope access solution across modern infrastructure and high-rise operations. As projects continue to become more complex, specialized access methods are increasingly being used to support installation, maintenance, inspection, and structural work in locations where traditional access methods may be limited or inefficient.
